Landscaper Coming Today!

DH and I have been desperately trying to figure out what to do with our mud pit...I mean lawn....and finally decided to have a professional come and take a look.  He should be here within the hour....we're hoping he'll tell us he wants to aerate/fertilize/seed the ENTIRE yard, with extra focus on the back, as well as install some type of drainage system in the back and side.  A bonus would be if he would rip out dead bushes and replant, or add a tree or two in the back......I'm terrified of his quote, but at least we'll have a reference point!

Wish me luck!

Re: Landscaper Coming Today!

  • You can always ask him to draw up the plans, which will still be a fee of some sort, and then do the work yourselves.

  • He came and quoted us $475 for the following work:

~Pulling up all dead grass and crab grass

    ~Aerating front, side, back yard

~Fertilizing, Seeding (including lime b/c of our soil) entire lawn, and covering with straw

~Installing two drainage systems (on side of house and in backyard)

~Removing dead bush in front yard

    ~Replacing all mulch

~Planting new tree in back yard

~Weekly follow-up care and guarantee of work

I think we got a great deal.....What do you think?

  • That is so cool for you, and depressing for me.  We've spoken to two landscapers, and they want 1K just to draw up the plans, let alone do any work.  I wish I could borrow your landscaper!!
  • That is a phenomenal price for that amount of work! Does he come from a reputable place around you or have you checked out his background/certifications? Unless you don't have much of a lawn, you can barely get all of the supplies for that price.

Yeah, that does seem crazy cheap for all that work. So long as it's a reputable company or you've spoken to a few references, it sounds great!

  • He came highly recommended, and actually does work on a Nascar driver's nearby home....he knows DH, and I think he gave us a "special rate".  But, after talking to more people it seems that rate is VERY special!  I'm excited!  He starts tomorrow, and will be done by Sunday....imagine....I could have GRASS!!  Big Smile
