xp: who's seen No Impact Man?
i thought it would be a little more scientific and provide some numbers
at the end of it (pounds lost, $ saved, volume in landfill avoided,
etc). I also thought it was a man by himself who cut everything for an
entire year, not the phase thing he did - although no power for 6 mos
is pretty hardcore. Now I want to know if he washed his daughter's diapers in
the bathtub too!
Re: xp: who's seen No Impact Man?
I saw it at Sundance last year and he and his wife were there answering questions after the screening. From their comments, I don't think his wife cheated all that much (if at all), but it was definitely hard for her.
I thought it was pretty inspiring and actually liked that he phased things, because it made it more relatable to me. I don't think I could do everything that he did, but it's still worth it to make the effort to do what I can, KWIM?
And he did say that washing clothes in the bathtub was his least favorite thing and not something they kept up with after the year was over.
I like it, but was a little put off at the same time.
Like you, I was hoping for numbers and I didn't realize it was a phase type of thing. I was expecting it to be a case of "tomorrow we are stopping everything" type of scenerio.
I do give him and his family lots of kudos for going 6 monts with out electricity.
I liked it enough to buy the DVD so I can let my friends/family watch it.
