Flooding?

How's everyone holding up with the rain? If you didn't read about the last 24 hours of my life in the weekend post, my basement got totally flooded and I got stuck in Raleigh to top it off.

I haven't slept in almost 32 hours so I'm delirious at this point! I hope everyone is safe and no major flooding has occured. Waltham is getting hit hard!

    Waltham is getting hit hard!

I had to take the commuter rail to the red line today because my car had to go in for service. The amount of flooding through Waltham was ridiculous!

  • Waltham was all over the news at lunch today! So far, so good for us. ::knocks on wood::

  • I just got out of a meeting and my boss had said you guys got 9.5 inches of rain. If it had been snow, you'd have gotten 6 feet.

  • As much as the rain/flooding sucks, I'm soooo thankful this wasn't all snow!

  • Our upstairs neighbors had flooding through their back door, which leaked down to our bedroom. It was nasty and annoying, but I think we got pretty lucky that it wasn't in the basement.

Sorry to hear about your basement! So awful. My bff has about 7 inches of water in hers right now.

  • There were TONS of cars at Home Depot when we drove by earlier today, I bet they're all out of wet vacs!

On a similar note, I'm ready for the rain to stop because we haven't been able to take Lucy out for any longer walks, I'm ready for it to clear up and get warmer!

  • Sorry about your basement!  Ours seems to be holding up ok (in Waltham).  We had quite a bit of flooding a few years ago so we had some gutters re-routed and a sump pump put in.  I haven't actually heard the sump pump running but I'd be shocked if it hasn't over the last few days.

  • We have a ton of water leaking in through the wall around our living room windows even though they've come out 3 times to fix it. It's a mess and they're probably going to have to replace the whole wall and the carpet because it's starting to get mold. Seriously gross. Luxury apartment, my butt. Makes me really happy that I don't own a house right now though- I can't imagine what some of you have to deal with! I went through Winchester on the train today and it was like completely under water. DH's boss lives there and brought in pictures of his completely flooded basement and SUV almost completely submerged in water. This water is crazy! I was in NY for the weekend too so I've been following this storm around for like 6 days now. It was so much worse there though- people were actually dying from trees on them and their cars.
  • We got some water in our basement and also noticed a leak in our roof near the chimney.  Luckily we found both last night before things got too bad.  It is sleeting out right now... ugh.  I feel like it will never end!  The forecast calls for sun and high temps later this week.  I really really hope it's right!
  • Sorry to everyone who is having water problems!

My house is doing good its my garage that is starting to flood. My yard looks like crap too.

  • Yuck, sorry to hear about the water problems.  Fortunately, our apt is fine, and we asked our agent to check on the house (we haven't closed yet) and she said that all is well.  Thank goodness!

Several streets near us (Braintree) are closed off because cars have gotten stuck underwater.  It was so creepy riding to the T today and seeing so many yards and cars with a few feet of water in them!

  • We're ok in Worcester! The streets are all normal, and DH checked the basement yesterday and it's good. We live on a hill, though, so we'd probably be ok (fingers crossed).
  • I used to live across the street from the Waltham dam on Crescent Street, I can't believe how high the river is right now down there.  I'm so glad we're out that apartment, not so much for the flooding of the river, though I hope things stay okay down there, but because I'm sure that apartment is totally flooded from above.  It leaked constantly, waterfalls in the kitchen and shared hallway.

  • I can't seem to get away from flooding- Most of Atlanta flooded last September, and the May before it, and now there's flooding up here!  As much as I lament leaving our big house for this little apartment, times like this make me grateful that we live on the 16th floor.

My thoughts are with you waterlogged ladies! :/
