I am so proud of myself, it's been 2 weeks with no fast food!

The only time I bought dinner last week was at central market and I don't really consider that fast food.  It's all organic and fresh!  I am so proud of myself, this has never happened.  Food Inc has really opened my eyes and my DH thinks I am obsessed which I am, but it's a good think right?

  • I would say cutting back on fast food is a good thing. I do not understand how people eat it all the time. I only eat it about once a month and that is usually if we are traveling.

  • I used to be a fast food junkie. I mean, I ate it ALL THE TIME. I travel often for work so eating out was a way of life and fast and cheap were usually the route I went. I still eat out sometimes, but have scaled WAY back. The more I research our industrial food system, the less and less it appeals to me. I can't bring myself to eat beef anymore out somewhere and I'm down to eating fast food chicken (typically zaxbys) about once per week and chipotle (100% organic chicken and 60% organic beef) once per week. For me, this is a dramatic change in my eating habits from just a few months ago so I'm very proud of my accomplishments (though it probably doesn't seem like much to people who have been eating well for years).

  • Way to go!

I have cutout eating Taco Bell and other fast food places like that and have started going to Panda Express or Subway/Quiznos.  Those places are still fast food, but at least it is still fresh.

  • Good for you! We have been 100% fast food (and chain restaurant) free for over a year now. It was soooo hard at first, but it does get easier. I equate it to quitting smoking or some other habit. Maybe there should be a 12 step?

Hello, my name is Bob and I am a fast-food-aholic. I have been Miccie-D's free for 2 weeks.....

    LOL

  • awesome, good for you!
  • That's great news, good work!  I stopped fast food after Food Inc. too. I do eat Chipotle, but I don't count that as "fast food" because it's fresh and the workers get good benefits.  DH has McD's once a week on Sat. mornings while I'm at the Farmer's Market, and I'm always like "yuck!"  Come to think of it, we've been chain restaurant free for awhile now too.  I think that has more to do with the fact that chains don't have anything to eat for vegetarians though.

  • Keep it up, and I bet you will find you don't want it, and that its not very good! I would rather go hungry than eat fast food. The more I eat fresh, real, high-quality foods, the less crappy food interests me.

  • Great news!

I usually eat fast food about 5 times during the year here (Subway and a Swedish hamburger chain that even climate compensates their whole menu) and 4-5 times during my 2 week annual States trip.
