Recs for Spring Break Destination
Hello Ladies,
MH and I are looking for a decent resort in the hotel district in CANCUN. We are debating whether to do an all inclusive place or your basic resort. We would like to be close to the night life and decent restaurants. Any suggestions, pointers, or must see attractions would be greatly appreciated. We have been doing research for a few days now and would love some insight.
TIA
Re: Recs for Spring Break Destination
We have stayed at the RIU Palace Las Americas in Cancun several times and LOVED it there. There are 3 RIU hotels in the Cancun hotel district, and the Palace Las Americas is considered the "high end" one. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the service is fantastic. The staff always bent over backwards for us. It's an all-inclusive hotel, and we tip a little there, but not much. I think we took $100 to tip for our last 5 night stay there.
Because it's the high-end hotel, there are not as many kids or teens on spring break. It was quiet and relaxing.
They have the typical buffet for food, which we ate at a LOT, and then they also have restaurants on-site, which you have to make reservations are, but they're still free. I like all the restaurants on-site except the Brazilian one - way too much meat for one meal!
They have little shows at night. They're no Broadway productions, but they are fun to watch.
If you're looking for stuff to do outside the hotel, we've been snorkeling and on a pirate ship dinner cruise, both of which I'd recommend. There's also the Chichen Itza Mayan ruins, which is usually a day trip.
The hotel is very close to all the restaurants, malls, and nightlife of Cancun. We haven't really done any clubs when we're out there, but tripadvisor has some good recs.
We were thinking about book a trip recently and they are running some specials right now:

I don't think there's much of an option for non-AI in cancun, unless you want to stay at the four seasons.
we stayed at le blanc and it was awesome, but $$$$. my friend got married at the moon palace and I wouldn't stay there again.
you should check the travel board as well as tripadvisor.com
