Owen is sick - again - VENT

his fever spiked at 104.3 this evening, the doctor couldn't see him tonight, but the nurse had us give him a bath and give the Tylenol then Motrin to try to control it.  If it isn't controllable we will he shuffling off to the ER.  It has been going down it is now 102.8

we are going to the ped first thing in the morning

I hate that my baby is sick so much, It makes me want to cry.  We ar still nursing too, why isn't that preventing stuff more?  Sorry to vent, I know there are kiddos with way more complex medical needs than Owen, I absolutely know that, but am stating to feel frustrated and like I am constantly either letting him down or work down.  URRGH!!

Vent over.  Thanks for listenign

Re: Owen is sick - again - VENT

  • Awww, poor Owen! I hope he feels better soon and stays that way for a long time!
  • OMG, poor baby and poor Mama!!! ?I'm so sorry you guys are going through this and I hope he gets better real soon. ?Please let us know how everything goes...(((hugs)))

Call me if you need anything, ok??

  • Poor baby Owen!

Owen actually had a fever again at the end of last week (he had one the end of the week b/f).  Thur night & Fri it was 102.5 w/ Tylenol & Motrin!  It came down to 101 Sat & Sun.  He has still felt warm yest & today, but temp is around 100.

Pedi wanted to see him yesterday & seems to think that he is just getting all of the viruses that are going around.  I know there are a few other Nestie kids who have had this "fever virus".

Hope baby Owen feels better soon & stays that way!

  • yes, jude had something like that last week - was up to 105, we did the tylenol/motrin shuffle - he was better the next afternoon, still not quite himself, but no high fever.

hopefully he gets over it quickly! ?i know how you feel about nursing, too - i felt like jude was sick all winter, and he is not even in daycare. ?i think the first year they are just so susceptible to getting anything and everything, it really doesn't matter all that much. ?i just liked to think it helped him get better faster (maybe). ??image

  • Awww Poor Owen! I hope he gets to feeling better soon! It makes for a rough time when your baby is sick.

  • Roseola seems to be making the rounds with a few people's kids that I know (including mine).  It is no fun when they are sick, today was such a hard day because I wanted to lay low and stay home but I was feeling STIR CRAZY from being home basically all weekend with two sick kids - AAUUGGGHH!

I went to the grocery store tonight after the kids went to bed to pick up a few things that we needed and somehow on the way home, my car drove into the parking lot of the liquor store and something propelled me inside to buy tequila!  "OMG! How did that get in there?" was what I said when DH started helping me unload the bags when I got home and saw the HUGE bottle.

Oh well, since it's here now I might as well make myself a margarita - right?

  • Laura, thanks for lifting my spirits!  Enjoy your margarita Drinks

So, Roseola is a fever and a rash?  I will have to google it!  Did you take the kids to the ped?

And Sarah, holy crap and holy high temp for Jude!  Poor thing.  Glad the Tylenol/Motrin helped!  I hope Owen is better as quickly as Jude was!

  • Yeah, Jude is a high fever spiker (and I guess both DH and I were as kids), he's had several bouts of 105'ers. ?The first time we freaked and called the on call nurse in the middle of the night, she's the one who told us the alternating thing, and now we just automatically do that (since when it's that high, he just turns into a sad glassy eyed little lump).

    ?

Hopefully it's just the 24 hour thing that he seemed to have this time, though! ?(usually it's ear infections that do it).?

  • Roseola is a high fever followed by a rash, once the fever is gone.  They don't need to go to the pedi, as there isn't much they can do for it.  But, they can confirm the Dx & r/o other things.

     Hope Owen feels better soon!

  • ugh, Chrissy I hope little Owen feels better and you too.  Dont be too hard on yourself.  I understand the "I might let down work" feeling but feel better in knowing that you are taking care of your baby and they can shove it if they ever get pissy...lol

Ladies, I hope all your little ones are feeling ok.  What a bad week for sick babies :(

  • Thanks for the support everyone, and that info Mindy, I just posted above, but he has hand, foot, mouth disease, which is also called something like coasickle virus, I forget how to spell it.
