Re: TTT
This is a long one...
1. L called me yesterday and said that her CEO asked her to go to a conference in April. She would get back the night before we are scheduled to fly to TN. We discussed her going directly from FL to TN (and I would take the kids solo from here) but then started talking about all of us going since her airfare/hotel/car rental is taken care of..and it is April in FL (perfect weather!) When I looked, the conference is being held at the Boca Raton Waldorf Astoria.
It is BEAUTIFUL and no place we would/could ever stay on our own dime.
So I got really excited and started looking at all the amenities
(multiple pools, right on the beach, kids club, family activities) and
room types. All the while telling L what I was finding (and obviously
excited.) This morning she says that she doesn't think that her company
will pay for her to stay there (not based on a conversation - just
thought that they would want to conserve money) and we need to look at
cheaper places. I got pretty bummed (I mean when else am I going to
stay at a Waldorf?!?!?) and she got pissed that I had gotten all
excited. Couldn't she have said that staying there may not be a
possibility when I was telling her all this information last night? So
I've priced out the Embassy Suites (yay) and seeing how it is $300
cheaper...Oh, well...it was a nice pipe dream.

2. If we all go, I'll be off of work for a week and a half (I was already taking 5 days to go to TN) - I've never been out that long before (aside from maternity leave.) And we'll get to see and hang out with one of my best friends from college and her kids and a few of our closest boyfriends that moved from this area. So that will be fun even if I am not staying at a incredibly posh resort.
3. The DLS is messing with our schedules. It is giving us more time to play outside when we get home (love this!), which means a later dinner, later bath time, later bedtime (don't love this!) And then the dark mornings mean none of us are interested in getting up.
4. I think I could live on peppermint mocha frappuccinos. Mmmmmmmm.
5. I am just not feeling work this week. Yesterday I left 15 minutes early b/c I could.not sit here any longer.
6. I wonder if the cafeteria has something I wasnt for lunch. Doubtful, but I think I'll go look in a few minutes.
7. We are going to Benihana this weekend for dinner. The kids love it for the show and I love it for the food. YUM.
8. With all of my references to food, you'd think I'm PMSing. I'm not.
9. I am so excited for C&S and their new babies. Reading her weekend post brought back memories that make me both wistful for tiny cuddly babies/the anticipation and excitement new babies bring and also thankful that my kids now sleep through the night, can get their own milk from the fridge, and I don't have to pump 8x/day.
10. I need to look for some spring clothes. I hate clothes shopping. Blech.
Cycle #1 AF showed up when I was hosting a baby shower. Hope this doesn't happen to you! :-)
1. I really need to meet with my co-worker but she is on the phone.
2. The students are coming to get my dog in 9 minutes. I love love love having a therapy dog I get to bring to work but sometimes it is really inconvenient. I can't allow her to go alone which means I have to go to the therapy sessions too. I really don't have time for it today.
3. With only 8 minutes until the students come I decided not to start any new work projects and do my TTT instead.
4. My dad is having surgery today. It's a simple procedure but it scares me. My dad is in his 70s. I don't like to think of him as getting older and frailer.
5. K's nephew had to have emergency surgery last night. His mother had surgery two weeks ago. Does that mean we've met our quota of 3?
6. At the OB appt yesterday the doc said "You could have a March baby." I know that, but really I've got my head set for April. I need to finish this work stuff.
7. I need to find a project for the intern when she returns from lunch.
8. A vacation would be super nice right now. No, maternity leave does not count as a vacation. Although, I hope I will get to do a bit of traveling while out on leave.
9. I'm typing up all the interviews K did for her dissertation (voice to text) and although I type very quickly it's taking me forever.
10. I'm jealous of how often 2brides goes out to eat.
That's exciting!!! I have to say though, I've stayed at the Waldorf (in NY, not Boca) and while it's really nice and was a nice thing to experience - I actually prefer Embassy. I don't know how familiar you are with Embassy, so sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know! But, I love Embassy's free breakfast. Most of them have happy hour with free liquor (not just the beer and wine like some places do). Unless you get a suite at the Waldorf, you will probably find the rooms to be more spacious at the Embassy. If you & L were interested in taking a trip to NY or something, look at the end of February for Waldorf pricing. I've gotten some great deals that time of year.
ETA: Make sure there isn't a discounted rate offered for conference attendees... this happens like every time I go to a conference.
1. I started my day with somewhat of a wild goose chase. I have a new commute now, and I had some serious trouble figuring out where to park at the train station! I missed the train I was aiming to catch, and almost missed the next one as well!
2. Now that I've found the parking at the train station, tomorrow should go much more smoothly, but sadly it's going to take me about 1.5 hours to get to/from work every day no matter what
The only way that would be faster is driving, but with gas and parking it would be super expensive, plus I get very nervous driving in the city. So 1.5 hours it is...drive to train station, sit on train for 40 minutes, walk to next train, take train a couple stops, walk 10 minutes to office.... Thank goodness I only have 19 days of work left!! (But who's counting...?
)
3. I am SO. FREAKING. GLAD. to have the move behind us! It was one hell of a day!
4. Every time I empty a box, it feels so good!
5. We've made a good dent in the getting the kitchen unpacked - most of our every day dishes are cleaned and put away. I'm having trouble deciding how to organize the dry/pantry food items, and it's bugging me.
6. It is super annoying not being able to move any furniture myself.
7. I don't think I have anything green to wear tomorrow.
8. I really hope I don't catch Cecilia's cold
9. I want to go to Home Depot to buy one of those levels with the laser. I have curtain rods to hang and I think one of those would make it so much easier!
10. We desperately need some groceries, though... If I'm going anywhere tonight, it should be the market, not Home Depot.

Bloggity Blog - You know you want to...
Yea, we like the rooms much better at the Embassy (we almost always stay at one when we travel b/c we can put the kids to bed in one room and hang out in the living room) but the 6 pools, kids club, family activities, and direct beach access at the Waldorf would be awesome to have and the kids would have a BLAST (and help to keep us occupied all day while L is at her conference.) The Embassy has the free breakfast and drinks - but that doesn't impress the kids too much (or keep them very occupied!)
The online rate was actually much better than the conference rate.
Two - You might be jealous of how much we go out - but not the bills it creates.
We're trying to get better. We're going to Benihana on a gift certificate.
Yeah that sounds like a lot of stuff the kids would be able to do! (Can you tell we don't have kids yet, lol!) That's surprising that the online rate was better, but I have seen it happen a few times. Does L's company have a policy where she can expense "alternate" arrangements? We are allowed to compare a "normally authorized option" to a "personal preference option" on this form and we get to expense the lesser of the two costs - so it helps offset the cost of a more expensive choice. Not sure if that would even help, but I wanted mention it just in case!
3. i hope he adjusts to DST soon. i'm not adjusting as well as i had hoped!
4. i do have to say, though, that i am loving the light later in the evenings.
5. i love this time of year. hello, cadbury creme eggs...
6. it is so nice outside. i really want to grill out, but i don't want to actually go get the grill out of its winter hibernation spot and clean it up.
7. i just got an email saying that i was approved for a phone rebate we sent in a while ago and to expect to see it in the next 2-4 weeks. we got the rebate in the mail yesterday.
8. i have been sucked into lurkerdom on the photography board, but i'm too chicken to post. and i don't really know what i would say other than "hi. i like taking pictures. look at my cute son." thanks, two. i blame you for telling me it existed. ;-)
9. my wife bought us a camcorder! it's sort of an early b-day present for me, but we both wanted it and she got a really good deal. it got delivered today!
10. please go to sleep at a decent hour tonight, monkey. mama needs it.
1. We're also going to Benihana, next weekend for a belated triple birtday dinner with SIL, nephew and BI. I know our nephew will love it for the show too!
2. I love spring break and I can't believe this is my last one.
3. Spring break means I can nest at night (instead of homework).
4. My dog is cuddling with me for the first time since last Thursday (he was with my mom for the weekend).
5. I got my FSH and prolactin levels back (no E2) and both were normal. TSH draw is tomorrow.
6. We still haven't decided when we're trying again. I'm thinking May.
7. I just filled out our census. I hated putting "unmarried partner."
8. And, I get to feel that again with taxes...but at least we're getting a first-time home buyers credit.
9. We're getting our new refrigerator tomorrow morning!
10. Two vacations and a new appliance in one month, this is craziness! (And I feel so lucky.)
omg yum. i buy one every time i see them! also - love the new siggie pic. he is precious!!
