Wish me luck

I just put Charlotte to bed completely awake but drowsy and unswaddled.   think DH had inadvertantly created a monster since she only sleeps on him during the day.  It was fine at first but now it is impacting her nighttime sleep.  The past 4 nights have been hell.  She's been up virtually every hour and is fighting the swaddle like crazy.

She's in a sleep sack, fed and changed, has her pacifier and has the white noise machine on with the projection going.  And now she is having a sneezing fit.  Ugh.  And now she's fussing.  I need to have a better night!

Re: Wish me luck

  • I wish you lots of luck and good sleep!!  My Charlotte has been acting crazy the past few nights at bedtime and her new nickname is Babyzilla!!  She doesn't want the bottle, looks at me and fusses/smacks me until I lay her in her crib, then she stops and laughs at me and just rolls around yelling and talking for a LONG time!

My Charlotte hated the swaddle beginning at 3 months, so one night we just let her go without it and she slept much better.  Hopefully the same will happen for you!

    P.S.-I love your new picture!

  • Good luck!  How is it going so far?
  • Good luck Sarah! It's amazing how much a good night does for you- so hopefully Charlotte gives you a decent one :)
  • Good luck Sarah!  Sleep baby girl!

Well, it could have been better.  After I posted she got really fussy and I tried giving her some more to eat and then tried to put her down again.  No good, she gave herself really bad hiccups.  I ended up bringing her back in with me and laid her down next to me.  She eventually dozed off.  She wasn't completely asleep but was pretty our of it so I just put her back in her room.  She gave a little fuss when I laid her down but not a peep since *knock on wood*.

I just don't know what happened to my good little sleeper.  She was sleeping through the night for almost 4 months and for the last month or so she has been awful.  I hope it gets better soon.  It's getting to the point that I can't function and I seriously can't drag it out of bed in the AM.  I've been late to work pretty much constantly since I returned from maternity leave.

  • I'll get better, don't worry Sarah! I went full tilt with having Austin sleep in his crib, unswaddled with a sleep sack - he was getting up every 3 hours as it was so I figured I wasn't sleeping anyways! But he got used to it after a while...any transition is hard :(

    1. Damn hiccups!!!! I hate those things - just when you think you have them down...there they are :(

    2. Austin was a good sleeper at night too and started waking all the time - I thought it was his naps and it was partially....if he got decent naps (although he is a crappy napper) he slept better at night. We also got him out of our room and I started not responding to his every whimper at night ( I don't know if you do that)...the only time I go to him is if he is crying really hard...and to my surprise, Tom and I let him cry out for a while and he often would put himself back to sleep. Now he only wakes around 4 or 5 for a feeding and then again at 8:30am for the day
