Moms- when did you start yogurt?
I believe the pedi ok'd us to start Yo-baby now. ?Part of me wants to try it since Ben is anti-food lately and part of me wants to hold off because it's dairy and I had a lactose issue as a child. ?When did you start? ?WDYT? ?Thanks!
Re: Moms- when did you start yogurt?
We started about 2 weeks ago. He hadn't pooped in a couple days so I gave him plain yo baby with fruit and sure enough...
now I don't buy yo baby one container was a lot of yogurt, I buy the big stoneyfield plain whole milk yogurt and scoop some out into his food.
I don't know about the dairy thing, but its supposed to be dift dairy, right? Like better? I remember reading something on wholesome babyfoods or whatever that site is. Good luck!
Theoretically, yogurt is supposed to be much easier to digest. Even though it contains lactose, it usually causes a lot fewer problems for people who are lactose intolerant. It is also the reason they recommend it first for babies & when doing dairy trials in milk allergy kids. If you got the go ahead, I would try it. Just follow the same rules that always apply when introducing a new food. It will be interesting to see if Ben likes it!
ETA:
Recent research shows that yogurt with active cultures may be a good source of calcium for many people with lactose intolerance. Even though yogurt is fairly high in lactose, the bacterial cultures used to make it produce some of the lactase enzyme required for proper digestion.

around 9 months with JJ (I buy the Yoplait for Kids with 25% less sugar) he loves it will cereal mixed in.
With Noah (or digestive issue baby) we started right around 7 months per the Ped. It was really 1 of the only foods he could eat with no real issues and he couldn't drink regular formula only Soy.
