How to give a gift from a honeymoon registry
My cousin's bridal shower is next month. Her and her fiancee already own their own home, and don't need anything for the home.
They registered at a honeymoon registry. Is there a fun and creative way to give/wrap a gift certifacte from their honeymoon registry? They are getting married at their destination (Mexico) which is also their honeymoon, but we are unable to attend.
Also, is it better for the actual wedding gift to give it at her bridal shower so they can use it for the trip if they want? For the wedding gift, should I give cash or another honeymoon registry GC?
Re: How to give a gift from a honeymoon registry
If it were me, I'd give ONE big "wedding gift" off of the honeymoon registry and give it at the bridal shower.
Since, they'll be traveling for a while, how about a little gift basket or toiletries bag with travel size items: SPF, body wash, lotion, anti-bacterial? Or maybe even a gift set that comes with empty bottles, so that they can fill them up with their gave shampoos from home, etc. You can find these anywhere: Target, BBB, Marshall's.
I went to Mexico for my honeymoon and a couple of my BM gave me a beach tote filled with goodies: gum, mints, sunscreen, tanning lotion, swim suit cover up, a book, a disposable water-proof camera, a gift certificate to snapfish for honeymoon photos, flip flops that say "just married." I actually used most of it during the honeymoon.
HTH!
For my BIL and SIL, we printed out a picture of what we bought them (breakfast in bed) and I embellished it (mounted it on card stock, added touches of color with watercolor markers to the B & W printout). I wrapped that in a bracelet box and gave it to her at her shower.
I didn't want to get her a bunch of stuff that they didn't want, but we did end up buying them matching Red Sox bathing suits and caps in addition to the other gift off of the honeymoon registry (an excursion).
Stand up for something you believe in.
I would give one large gift to cover both the wedding and shower.
If you purchase one of their activities buy things to go along with that...ex If you buy a round of golf maybe wrap it in a basket with golf balls, tee's, golf glove, etc. If you bought the plane ticket you could get them a suitcase, carry on, travel make-up bag with travel size items, etc. Buy massages and make a basket with fluffy robes and slippers. Or if you buy them dinner you could attach it to a bottle of wine for the gift.
Even if they don't use your extra items on their honeymoon they will have it for when they get back to relive the honeymoon over and over.
