Y_L

hey how are those 3 miles non stop coming? I went for a run this morning (a short one) and I totally thought about you :)

Re: Y_L

  • DUDE. They are NOT coming. But thanks for asking.

I've been going back to TKB, which has been building my endurance, but I've been having trouble establishing a gym schedule.

I'm on a ridiculous no carb, no sugar, limited fat diet right now, and when I'm done I'm coming up w/ a serious gym schedule and tackling that goal of mine. I refuse to gain back the weight I am losing right now.

    How is your running going?

  • I've been kinda keeping up w/ running. Nothing monumental  I probably run like 2 times a week and on Saturdays with some friends. But I stick to like 2- 4 miles each time max.

You know me I'm not really a runner. I just do it because it keeps me leaned up and it's an easy go to when I need to burn off some stress. I still HATE it while I'm doing it but like the way I feel after.

The ladies at my work are work out feens. This is both a blessing and curse because M, W and F they do bootcamp at lunch and Tues and Thurs they run.

I've joined them on some runs but as per usual I'm still snails pace runner  (which I'm totally ok with)   so I usually come in last and stuff ::shrug::

The one thing I have gained from it is my endurance back. Which is what made me think of you and your run 3 miles non stop resolution. :)

  • You can do it!

Why are you on SUCH an aggressive diet right now? Don't you remember your previous success of Spark- and you didn't even have to be so aggressive :)

  • I started my previous Spark success with a similarly agressive diet, actually. I did 2 weeks of SBD, and then started with calorie counting and working out regularly. I lost 30 lbs total before. 10-ish from not changing my diet, but just walking a lot, 10-ish from SBD in 2 weeks, and 10-ish over 6 months from Spark cal. counting and working out.

I've realized my diet has been pretty low cal, but FULL of sugars and carbs. It's all I eat. So I'm eating like 1500 calories a day, but it's all sugars, carbs, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods. In this time I have been maintaining my (over)weight, but not losing, despite my pretty low cal diet.

So, I'm using this time as a detox. It worked well for me before, to just cut the bad stuff out for awhile, then slowly reintroduce healthy carbs and sugars back into my diet. I would rather kill myself than gain the weight I lost on the detox back (I don't want to have gone through all of this for nothing), so I know I'll be good about eating well and working out regularly when I'm done w/ it.

  • You'll feel so much better after! I've been doing the "eating clean" thing for 2 weeks now and I'm down 5 lbs. Exciting stuff considering I've been at a plateau for MONTHS- shoot even close to a year despite calorie counting.

And my energy is much better also.

    Huge kudos friend!

  • ::butting in::

We've been told that while we're doing this program that we really should cut out all grains (e.g. oatmeal, bread, pasta, rice, etc etc) and really up our protein since the workouts are comparable to athlete type programs. Carbs are supposed to be "wet" ones - fruits and veggies or lentils. It's hard for me to go cold turkey, but I'm down to 1 or less grains per day and I have to say that I'm definitely not as hungry during the day, even on 1500-1600 calories a day. The extra protein and stuff seem to be working.

Granted, after this is over, I'm going to reintroduce some good grains, but I think it's been good for me to really kick the chips/sweets habit and I'd like to continue that into the future.

  • Yeah, I'm eating a big apple for breakfast and either an orange or a handful of strawberries as a snack. And veggies with both lunch and dinner.

In SBD you can have cheese but no fruit.

I'm eating fruit but no cheese.

How are you doing with your program, jonesy? It sounds intense!

  • That's funny because dairy is like my new bff. :)

It's going really well, but yeah, she wasn't joking on the contract we signed when she described it as "intense and extreme." I'm cooking up a blog post with more details and stuff, but as hard as it is, I'm seeing good results (the other gals in class are starting to comment on the weight/inches I've lost) and I actually think I'll miss it when it's done. :(
