As many of you may remember I had my 1st c/s on Apr. 17th. I am now 4 months PP. I have STILL been having a decent amount of pain from time to time. My external incision looks perfect so I think it has to do with the internal one. I saw the doc a few weeks ago and they said it seemed normal b/c I am not having pain ALL the time. However, the last 2 days I had REALLY bad pain that even 4 ibuprofen wouldn't touch and I was almost in tears. I called the doc again and will be going in tomorrow. I am feeling better today so my question is....Am I overreacting by calling again?
TIA for any advice/help!
Re: Am I overreacting??
That's a hard question. I am leaning towards no because of that severe pain that you were in. However, I don't know your lifestyle- how you've let your body heal since your C. I haven't had anything like what you described after Alex after the first month or so out.
Also, it may not be your INCISION inside. It may be that your muscles and things they pushed around to get to your uterus are just not back yet. You didn't describe the pain, so I'm not sure.
Bottom line for me though- your MDs make plenty of money to be there for you. You are feeling better today, but call because that pain yesterday is more than you can handle and you are concerned (rightfully so). GL!
No, you are not overreacting. ?I can recommend an awesome OB if yours isn't listening to you- Dr. Conway of Southern NH OB/Gyn Assoc.. ?Everyone has different experiences with their section, for those who didn't have much pain, that's great- but there are about 3% of women who have complications. ?I should know; I am one of them.
The doc can't tell just by looking at it. ?Heck, my incision area "looks" great. ?However, due to feeling around in there and the description of my symptoms- strong, constant pain, my doc(who specializes in this particular issue) was able to diagnose that it was a nerve issue. ?Sometimes, after a section, there are a few different nerves there that can become entrapped and cause lots of pain. ?There are a few courses of treatment that can be done. ?I have received about 6 nerve block injections that have given me about 10% relief. ?But I won't get into what my other options are...
Bottom line- if you are in that much pain, I suspect it could be a nerve issue too. ?You can tell your doc my story, if you like. ?You may have a blocked pudendal nerve or ilioinguinal nerve. (this is the one I have) . GL!
PS- You do not have to learn to be more tolerant of this pain- no one should have to suffer. ?And no one knows what it's like until they've experienced it. ?Hang in there; I am one who knows what it's like!?
That's the thing though...it's NOT constant pain, but it just keeps coming back. I'll feel great for a week or two with little to no pain, then it will be absolutely unbearable. Like today, the area around the incision is tender, but it is no where near the pain I had yesterday.....arrrrgh....I wish I knew what was going on in there!
I have almost no numbness, so I also wonder if maybe THAT is why I am still feeling pain....i dunno......
I should say that some days my pain level is like a 1 on a scale of 1-10 and others it's at like 100. ?I would just mention it to your doc, that's all. ?It could very well be just the way your body heals, I just wanted you to know that sometimes there is an actual cause. ?Feel better!?
