Omg, I hate it when my manager talks to customers. He can talk to them when they're pissed, that's fine, but whenever he tries to sell them something or interferes with a sale, he promies something that's not possible.
For examples, he promised that we could print (not engrave, more expensive) on 25 of our cards that aready have a design on them . . . First of all, our minimum for personalized products is 50 end of story. Second of all, for technical mechanical reasons we can't do that. We have to start from scratch, we can't use existing cards because it won't turn out well. So now he tells our salesperson-in-training to inform the customer like it's no big deal and have me figure out new pricing. I told her to tell him I said he's crazy.
Re: gjksdjgtkjaksgj manager
I say do it as he asked and then show him what a disaster it turned out to be and then make him correct it with the customer. He needs to learn a lesson.
This! He's the one that promised it and now he's passing it off on someone else. . .so like something MY manager would do too! The head DVM and owner of the veterinary hospital I work at is constantly telling me people we can do things that are virtually impossible unless we bend over backwards for them, and then when we can't do what he told them we could they get angry at us (the front desk staff). I feel your pain Cassie.
