Upside down tomato gardens
My Husbands wants one of those upside down tomato gardens... I thought I'd stop by and ask the experts....Do they work? I saw one at walmart for 10 bucks, is it worth it, or do I need to invest in something of better quality? Thanks for your help.

We had one last summer and it was terrific. We got the Topsy Turvy brand. When we went to the greenhouse to get the actual plant we let them know what we were doing with it and they pointed us in the right direction for a type of tomato plant that grows well in them.
FWIW we lived in Alaska and couldn't put it out until the begining of June and we still got a good 2 dozen tomotoes off it before the first winter freeze.
I'm not sure what the brand is at walmart, but it looked fairly simple/easy-2-do. I'm going to google the Topsy Turvy brand.
I just don't want him to be disappointed in his first gardening adventure, lol.
