Fundraiser Event Theme Ideas
Hi, folks!
A friend of mine is the head of a non-profit organization that raises awareness for cervical cancer. Every year, they have an event in which they sell tickets, serve food, play music (usually with a band) and enjoy each other's company. The event will be in September of this year, and she's asked me for some ideas for themes. (Last year, we had an evening at a Whitewater Center (although it rained...)...)
I've got a few ideas in mind, but I'd love to hear theme ideas, as well as decoration/activity ideas and/or fun locations you may have!

Re: Fundraiser Event Theme Ideas
Costume party
Disco
Country western/square dance
Prom (think sequined dresses, disco ball, streamers and balloons, oldies music)
Luau
Carnival
I am helping to plan an event for our local American Cancer Society Relay For Life. We are planning a Friday evening reception at a local winery. There will be heavy apps, desserts and wine. We also have raffle prizes and a silent auction.
For future events I have thought of having a cooking class at a restaurant or a home for a smaller group. Good luck!
I'm involved in a charity organization, too. Ours focuses on kids, but each year we have a similar event.
This year we are doing an Old Hollywood theme. Red carpet, black and white pictures of old stars and starlets, and we are going to have a projection screen showing pieces of old black and white movies on it throughout the night (without sound). When we do our speeches and awards, the screen will show pictures of our projects from this year and some of the kids we helped.
Some other themes we have done in the past:
Luau - grass table skirts, tiki torches, pineapple centerpieces, etc.
Mardi Gras - catered cajun food, purple & green feathers with gold masks for centerpieces, mask cutouts with lots of sequence on the walls, beads everywhere...
Khakis & Cocktails - a little less formal, oversized coktail glasses on display, candle centerpieces
Around The World - each table featured a different country: China, Italy, Mexico, Ireland, Russia, etc. A big globe with children painted on it on display. Lots of different varieties of food from different countries to choose from.
I've got more issues than a magazine
If it's in late september---how about an Oktoberfest theme?
A polka band is usually very entertaining, and you could have a special menu for kids with hot dogs and root beer.
