Planted my first tree today!
DH and I have been talking about getting a lemon tree for awhile and today we happened to be driving by a nursery and saw some great looking ones. So on a whim we decided to get it. We also bought mulch for around the rest of our trees and a bunch of herbs/pots so I was finally able to start my potted herb garden (in tiered pots). I'm really excited. The tree is even starting to bud, so we hope to have lemons is 4-5 months.
The image of DH and I cramming an 8-foot tree into the back of my CRV was hilarious.
I really hope it takes--we've never planted anything like this before (or much of anything, ever.)

You can still grow citrus, you just have to bring it inside for the winter. My mom has a lemon tree here in Wisconsin and she got enough lemons for a couple of pies last year.
Awesome! Think of all the yummy lemonade you can make this summer.
We got an apple tree for free on Craigslist a few years ago. That sucker was 14ft. It was insane trying to get it into the pickup.
