Root Canal problem?

Hi ladies,

I had a cracked tooth. 10 years ago an awesome dentist had it fixed with fillings. He mentioned that this tooth will eventually need a root canal.
Now , I am with a new dentist. I had a bit pain in Nov.  In Dec. I got a root canal done. There was a bit of complication, as one of the canals was very narrow and the dentist could not get to the bottom of it.  I didn't eat much with it prior to getting the crown as I was afraid to damage the tooth more. I got the crown last month. I can not eat on that side. There is a dull delayed pain.
Last week, my dentist told me, I have to see a RC specialist. They can see canals under microscope that he can not see under magnifying glasses. If there is nothing wrong then the tooth needs to be extracted!

I am going crazy. This tooth was not this bad before the RC. Has anyone experience similar issue with RC? Any feedback please.

TIA!
WR

Re: Root Canal problem?

  • I had a root canal that needed to be redone.  My old dentist did root canals himself, and apparently did a shitty job on one of mine.  I was a serious amount of pain so my current dentist looked at it and sent me to an endodontist (RC specialist), who found a bit of the root still in there and had to re-do the entire thing.

I'm not going to lie, I've had quite a few root canals, but nothing was ever close to the pain of having to retreat this tooth.

There are quite a few regular dentists that don't do root canals themselves, and there's a reason for it.  I would make an appt with the specialist and see what he has to say, something probably wasn't done right the first time.

  • Thanks Nova! I will have it checked out by specialist.

I wish I knew it is a complicated procedure and I would have gone to a specialist at the begining. Now I have to pay for it again and it is expensive.

    Have a nice weekend!
