And I think I could be on that show"I didnt know I was preganant". I usually amirregular , so I don't freak out when I miss a period. Well, I got it two months ago and it was very luight and only lasted three days, same last month. This month Flo was a no show. I took 4 pregancy tests the past few weeks, and they all came up negative, so again I was not freaking out.
It started to bug me , and I wieghed myself earlier this week and I am up 6 lbs. and my belly is a litle swollen, so I went to the GYN yesterday. She examed me and sent me for blood work. I asked her if she could tell if I was preganant and she would not really give me an answer other than"lets do some tests before we know anything for sure". So, now she wants me to call in 2 weeks for the results. How I am supposed to wait? I need to know NOW! If my calculatuions are correct, I think I am 14-16 weeks along and feel like a dummy if I am for not realizing it sooner!
Re: I think I am Pregnant...
Sunday....
I've heard of people getting false negatives, but usually it's when they're 4-8 weeks, not 14-16 like you are. But one time on "I didn't know I was pregnant" there was a woman who got a negative while in labor!
That sucks you have to wait so long. I wonder if you had to wait two weeks before home pregnancy tests . . .
Sometimes I feel this way, especially when I watch that show(it makes me wanna go out and buy a PT).
I hope everything works out the way you want it to.
A simple blood test should be able to confirm or deny pregnancy and be resulted in a few hours- not 2 weeks. I'd ask if for something a little faster- especially if you could be 14-16 weeks along!
I had to go to a lab to get it done(maybe it is a longer wait then when they do it in the office?).... I don't know why in the world she wants me to wait two weeks to call. I am going to call Monday anyway.
I would call Monday if I was you as well. I went in when I was 7 weeks b/c I had cramping and bleeding and they did what they call "pregnancy confirmation" bloodwork and checked my progesterone. I had to go to the lab b/c the office nurse couldn't get a good stick and I had results the next day.
Home pregnancy tests are pretty accurate nowadays. Sure there can be a false negative here or there but it's not very likely that you would have that many false negatives. If the doctor actually suspected pregnancy she would have had you pee in a cup and test you with one of their kits there. Did she? Also, like Breanne said, a beta result can be determined in a matter of a few hours, and max a day or two, not two weeks. Doesn't sound like she thinks you are pregnant because at this point she would also have been able to see it on an ultrasound.
Of course there are always those bizarre cases like you hear on those tv shows. I guess that could be the case but I doubt it. JMHO
WOW!!! That's crazy! Very interesting...That sucks that the Dr wants you to wait 2 weeks... they can't just check your hormone levels?!?!
WTF?
If you are I hope it is welcomed, but if not I would like to see what the result it!
This. Any chance you're reading the tests wrong and they're actually positive?
I have to agree with Karrey, too. If she thought you were pregnant, she'd have told you right then. She should have explained what types of others tests she's running and what else could cause the symptoms you're experiencing.
I thought I maybekindamighthave been pregnant a couple of weeks ago, too. I also had a lot of signs and I couldn't remember my last AF, but I had a negative test. Then a few days later...AF. Stress can cause the same symptoms. I was laughing at myself because I watched soaps in college and remembered one chick with a "hysterical pregnancy" - where you believe you are pregnant and have all they symptoms because you want to be pregnant. Basically her psychological condition was causing her physical condition.
When I was 6 weeks pregnant, the store-bought test said pregnant instantly. I find they are pretty reliable.
I was less than 2 weeks pregnant and the HPT's were positive . . quickly . . . ugh.
I can't imagine how wacky you must feel! I agree with everyone else, your OBGYN should have explained the tests to you better. Call on Monday and please keep us posted!
Stress can definitely keep AF away and this has happened to me in the past where I was almost for sure that I was PG and then BAM, flo came.
Keep us posted!
I hope that whatever you find out that it's good news!
I would prob be at home taking 20 tests, myself... I couldn't handle waiting 2 wks... I'd call!
thoughts are with you, Bella!
What a shi*tty doctor! I'd go get a digital test right now and test again.
