For the past several years I've gone to two different hair dressers, the hair school for my cuts (cause then they are only $9) and then an Aveda salon for my color (b/c they're expensive on cuts but worth the cost on color since they do a good job). My stylist from Aveda reduced her hours and then quit altogther after she married (b/c hubs lived in a different town 2 hrs away), and it made it impossible to get in with her. So I started getting my cut and my color at the school...fine for a while, until my assigned student graduated, and then I've had sub par cuts/colors with random people since. I resisted following former student hairstylist to JCPenney's, b/c they are even MORE expensive than the Aveda salon, but after my last humdinger of a hair cut/dye job, I ran to her to fix the damage. My former stylist at Aveda has returned and is still working limited hours, but they at least fit my schedule now. I hate the atmosphere of the Penney's salon, and I am on a super green kick, so I feel guilty also for not using earth friendly products like Aveda's. Is it a weird thing to be concerned about? I also feel guilty for seeking out the former student at Penney's to do my hair and then never going back to her. Aye, I probably am giving this too much thought. I could probably just explain to her the costs/enviromental benefits I'm weighing in my decision and she wouldn't think I was blowing her off/calling her a sub par stylist. IDK...what do you think?
Sorry for the novel.
Re: hair related (long)
This! You shouldn't worry about it. Do what's right for you and what you want!
I go to a good stylist every so often--and my 'trims' are at the less $$ places...
I feel guilty, too, but in this day and age... you gotta do what you gotta do!
