So, what is your proposal story? How did your DH do it? Was it a total surprise? Did you pick out your ring? Details!!
Re: Proposal Stories??
I guess I will go first...
My DH and I shopped for rings after about 4 yrs together. We decided to wait until after I graduated college to get engaged. So I was thinking that he would propose around Christmas 2007. He totally surprised me Sept. 07 with the proposal (3 months before I graduated). We spent a great day at the Zoo. He planned a picnic and then we went back to his house. He had a cat at the time that I always wanted to let in the backyard. When I went to open the shades of the back sliding door, there was a note he had placed on the window. He had written out " Will you marry me?" in letters and taped the papers to the door. When I turned around he was on his knee with my dream ring The rest is history...
DH and I had looked at rings about 6 months into dating, but decided to put an engagement off to move here. About a year after buying a house we started talking about it again, but we didn't have a lot of money. DH kept saying he needed to build the truck (in my siggie) to sell for a ring, but we knew we would probably get married in the summer of 2007. The summer of 2006 we realized that most venues in San Diego book 12 months in advance, so we decided to go out and look at places, despite not being engaged yet. DH said if we were going to San Diego, we should do a day in Disneyland as well. I got a little suspicious, but he was working on the truck every.single.night so I figured he still needed to finish it.
We went to Disneyland early in the morning and went on Space Mountain right away. From there we decided to go over to Indiana Jones. DH wanted to stop at the castle for a minute but I started to get impatient. Some people came and stood really close to us so we moved over to the other side of the bridge. At this point I'm getting a little suspicious and nervous because he's taking so long, but I convince myself that he's just messing with me. So I turn around to say "let's go" and he's down on one knee. I start bawling and don't remember a word he said, until he asks me again what my answer is, so I finally say yes.
As we're walking away I finally looked down at the ring and realize it's a real ring! For years I had been wearing this little CZ Mickey Mouse ring and I figured he just got a new one. I was so shocked to see a real ring!! The next day we reserved our wedding venue!
Thats sooooo cute!!! Thanks for posting!!
Welllllllllll...
It happened on Christmas day, actually Christmas night, ha. We hadn't seen each other all day b/c his evil mother insisted he spend his entire day w/ his family and I refused to go over there (I'm kind of a bee, and kind of stubborn). When he was finally able to leave, he was in such a rush that he backed his car into his brother's MIL's car and he totally ditched the scene of the crime. After fifteen minutes together, his dad called screaming and demanded Casey go back home to deal with his mess. Around 9:00, the extended family had left, things had calmed down, and he finally came to see me. We ended up strolling around the main street in FH where there is this huge light display. Suddenly I was walking alone, and when I turned around he was on one knee!!! I just started crying, and I couldn't hear a word he said. He got kind of teary eyed too, such a cutie!
Casey asked my mom for her retired engagement band, and he got a big gorgeous rock for it! We announced our engagement on graduation night. Totally perfect
Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
So as far as the ring goes, CJ had me pick three styles out and didn't tell me when or which one he would pick because he wanted me to be surprised.
So on the morning of October 2nd 2009 it started just like any other day I got up at 5 am and got into the shower and then finished getting dressed but I had yet to put my contacts on and wasn't wearing my glasses. I went to lay back down for a minute because it was a friday and who really wants to move quickly on friday morning. And every night before i go to bed i would put my promise ring he had gotten me back in the ring case. So as i went to lay because down on the bed i notice something really shiny in my ring box and i said "What is this" Cj picked up the ring and got down on one knee and said "I love you I with all my heart and i want to make you the happiest women in the world, and i want to spend forever with you. Will you be my wife?" and I was crying, and he was looking at me with a questioned look and i said "These are happy tears and Yes! Yes i will marry you!" and here we are a little more then 7 months until our big day!

DH & I had been dating for about a year and a half. We'd talked a lot about getting married, and always planned our future together. We went and looked at rings once, but nothing serious. He knew I liked princess cut, and that it had to be white gold/platinum. Other than that, he picked out my ring all by himself! (And I love it!)
DH planned a special weekend for us to get away, as a way for us to celebrate my 30th birthday together--just the two of us. We went up to this great hotel, in Bellingham, WA. for the weekend. We had been there a couple times before, and really loved it. We went to dinner at a restaurant outside the hotel, and then DH said that we had been given a free dessert thing at the hotel restaurant, since we were returning guests. So we went back there. DH checked in with the hostess, and she brought us to this private room/table in their wine cellar. She handed the dessert menu to DH. He looked it over, and said what he thought sounded good, and handed it to me. I read over the menu, and at the bottom, it said "Shawna, I love you with all my heart, and want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" I looked up, just as DH was getting down on his knee. I (of course) said yes.
The weekend prior, my mom was in town for my birthday, and we had all gotten together at my brother's house. I also had a few friends come over, one of which hadn't seen my brother's house yet, so I took her on a tour. When we headed upstairs, DH grabbed my mom & they went outside on the front porch, so he could ask for her blessings. They even tried to call my dad, but he didn't pick up his phone.
