50th Birthday Party Dinner Locations?
It's my mum's 50th coming up soon, and I need to put together a party for her. It'll stress her out to have the party at her place, and my place is too small for all those people, so I'm going to have it at a restaurant.
Any recommendations for something nice but budget friendly?
Also, should I expect to pick up the tab for the entire dinner - or is it okay to expect attendees to pay for their dinner?? I have no idea what the etiquette is in this situation!
Thanks!
Re: 50th Birthday Party Dinner Locations?
I don't have any recommendations for places...
but I do think that you should pick up the tab (which would lead me to think that you should have a set menu or a buffet - it's less expensive that way). People who are coming will probably bring gifts - they won't also want to spend money on their dinner.
Whatever you choose, you need to specify that on your invitations (ie. - dinner will be provided, but bring money to pay for your own drinks).
I know that Garozzo's in Lee's Summit has a banquet area. So does Fox $ the Hound in Independence. I have no clue about dinner/food packages.
I was thinking maybe you could have it around 4pm and just serve appetizers. That'll help with the cost.
I agree with PP about picking up the tab.
Are you having the party in Manhattan or Kansas City?
Okay, I'd figured that I'd have to pick up the tab for everyone - I'm going to have to limit the guest list then - it's been a big year for parties in our family. I've just footed the bill for a 50th wedding anniversary, a bridal shower & bach-ette, and my bro's 21st is the week before mum's birthday.
Maybe a backyard barbecue is the way to go!
A BBQ would be nice. I also know that if you don't want to do it all yourself, you can order large portions from places like Bandana's (my in-laws did that for our rehearsal dinner and it was amazing!).
Good luck!
I recently attended a 50th B-day Bash in Overland Park off Metcalf (I can never remember the name of the restaurant.....help anyone). It's a buffet style Italian on the West side of 91st & Metcalf
Anywho, they have a banquet room & there is plenty of space and inexpensive yet plenty of food to chose from!
