I have an iPhone which until this month my company paid essentially my entire bill - the reason I got the thing in the first place and left my family plan at Verizon with my husband. As long as the additional bill was paid it didn't really make an impact but now work is only offering to pay 1/2 of my bill.
So do I pay the cancellation fee ($175) to AT&T and go back to Verizon and probably get a Droid or do I just suck up the remainder of my bill. I have about a year left on my iPhone contract.
I also LOVE my iPhone or at least the i part of it; the phone part in all honesty sucks but that is not my primary use. Calendar, email, text, apps...it keeps me organized.
WWYD?
Re: iPhone vs. Droid?
It seems like it would be more expensive to pay the cancellation fee AND pay for a new phone, and then on top of that pay your full Verizon bill every month (Verizon will require a data plan on the Droid @ $30/month).
I have to pay for a data plan no matter what and it seems like regardless of carrier I always need the upgraded (read: more expensive) data plan to mesh with my university/work servers.
I personal would stay with the iPhone. My mom and dad have the Motorola Droid and they aren't very user friendly.
I canceled my contract with Verizon after some honesty problems with a location selling me a used phone as new. I didn't have to pay a cancellation fee for either of my two lines and I'm glad we switched to AT&T.
I would stay with the iPhone. I've actually had both phones and I miss my iPhone. For me, it was more cost efficient to change to the droid (DH's family is all on Verizon) and I didn't have to pay a cancellation fee.
There are a few cool features about the DROID. ie You can have Pandora/Slacker running in the background while you check your email and have your Navigation system running.
