apartment recommendations??

Hi- My family and I are moving to Phoenix in May/June. We are looking into apartment complexes possibly in the east valley (mesa, scottsdale, tempe, chandler). We have an 18 month old and one on the way. We are looking for a safe area while we search for a house. Any recommendations would be appreciated!  TIA

Re: apartment recommendations??

  • We live in N. Scottsdale, and we <3 our apartment!! It's called San Marcos, and it's run by Equity Residential. They have a lot of apartment community gatherings. Also, a portion of your rent goes into an account for a down payment on a house if you buy with them. Very nice apartments; high ceilings, crown molding, laundry room, etc.
  • We lived at another Equity Residential for three years - Little Cottonwoods in south Tempe.  It was a really great area.  I could walk to the grocery store and Trader Joes.  The complex was nice, although we were lucky enough to live on the newest phase, so I can't vouch for the older side.

I definitely recommend ER complexes though, they have some really great home buyer programs and every complex I have visited has been clean and welcoming.

  • thanks for the recommendations ladies! my brother lives in chandler so i will probably have him check them out for me. we have a golden retriever and with two kids i'm guessing we'll be wanting a ground floor apartment. i am wondering about our patio furniture. would it be okay on a ground floor patio? otherwise we can sell it before we move and get new later.
  • I'm on the ground floor, I have a chair, three tables and a big giant metal bookcase type thing, and our patio faces the road. We've never had any problems.
