Computer Virus;Trogans;worms etc
Good Morning Ladies,
I downloaded several yu tube videos on my new laptop last night and I think I have a virus, I also saw the word trogan. I ran a scan with AVG and AVAST and both said nothing found.
What is a trogan and how can I know for sure I didn't kill my laptop.

A trojan is a program that comes hidden within something else that you download and once in starts either sending out personal information from your computer or using your computer memory to run other "sinister" processes.
Run a couple of different virus scanners and make sure the libraries are up to date first. (although some trojans can keep you from updating the library). Beyond that, i'm not a lot of help.

Why do you think you have a virus? What makes you think downloading the videos caused a problem?
My guess is you saw a harmless pop-up ad with text about viruses and trojans.
If AVG isn't finding anything and your definitions are up-to-date, you're probably fine.
You could try running free Ad-Aware software to see if there's other junk you can remove from you computer.
A screen that looks like Windows defender said I had 243 infected files. I became alarmed so I cannot really say if it was windows defender. I shut it down immediately. The only thing I did last night was download videos onto my real player from you tube.
243 infected files? you gotta be kidding me... I am using AVG 9.0, and it is good.
