How did it go? This past weekend was gorgeous running weather!
Re: *Derky* re: 1/2 marathon
Hey Terp!
Thanks for asking!! Well, my goal was 2:20. I finished 2:02:57!! I was VERY excited. Dh left me at the 4.5 mile mark and I just kept finding a "carrot" up the road and passing them. I finished JUST behind one guy I started with--on the climbs he'd say outloud "cheeseburger, fries, milk shake!" and he'd repeat often. It was funny!!
There was one elusive "carrot" though.....the girl wearing the not-so-opaque running tights and hot pink undies with clouds on them. I almost wonder if "distraction" is her race tactic....
How was your long run?? It really was a BEAUTIFUL weekend for it!!
That's too funny about the "cheeseburger, fries, milkshake" guy. Though I love all those items, I'm not sure I'd want to be thinking intensely about them while running up a hill.
Congrats on your fabulous
time, you really blew your expectations out of the water! I'm hoping I
can do under a 10:15/mile pace, so I'll be happy if I finish under
2:15.
My long run was OK. I tried a few new routes (cuz you have to in order to find 10 miles) and managed to find all the hills in the neighborhoods surrounding mine. But that was OK b/c I haven't been doing too many hills in my training and the 1/2 I'm doing next weekend will have some. I just wish I had left myself some water at the halfway point, but I didn't and I was sooo thirsty!
That's the WORST. I'm a self proclaimed camel myself. On long runs, man, I should have an IV inserted in to my arms because dang, I get so thirty. I think I might have died in your case.
Where is your 1/2 next weekend?? I dont' know how far you'd ever travel, but the NC marathon (and 1/2) is a really well-run and well supported race. Just something to consider for next year's calendar.
I'll wait to wish you good luck, OK!
