landscape reccomendations

Hello there,

I'm new to the nestie site but was on the knot site pretty regularly ever since I got engaged.  I'm newly married, only a little over a week!  But now that the wedding is over, its time for my new husband and I to focus on our house.

We purchased it in September of last year and it was move in ready.  It is absoutley perfect and has wonderful space for us to grow into.  The only downfall is that our yard needs LOTS of work!!!

I was wondering if anyone else has any good ideas for plants in front of the house that are "deer repellant" and some ideas about how to handle a water run off area in our back yard.  Previous owners tried to place rocks to contain the dirt and water however they didn't maintain it and now all these rocks are spread all over our backyard!  Any suggestions about yard things in gernal are welcome. :)
