hanging baskets- full sun
I got hanging flower baskets last year that said full sun, but my deck is seriously FULL sun, all day, and they were constantly on the verge of dying because I had to water them soooo much, they were always drying out.
What are my options this year?
Re: hanging baskets- full sun
Annual vinca (not the perennia vine).
They can handle blazing heat. If they wilt, give them a blast with the hose and they'll be fine the next day.
Also, they grow like crazy.
Calibrochoa.
Tons of flowers, no deadheading needed, does better than petunias in full sun.
Also, if you mulch your hanging baskets things won't dry out so quickly
Can't believe I didn't think of this! So doing that!
I had this problem a few years back and i asked the green house last year about it, he said that you need to make sure you water lots and that when you come home and water at night all of the soil takes the water bc it is in full sun and completely dried out so you need to water twice...like and hour or so appart...first to give the soil moisture and then to get water to the plant
my plants in full sun did crazy good last year following this advice.
good luck
