Re: How was your weekend?

I had a nice and productive weekend. Saturday started with a workshop that I organized on doula business/taxes that was very interactive and informative. Then I went to a meet-and-greet for potential birth clients, then had lunch at home with C. In the afternoon I had an interview with a couple for my resrach project.
Yesterday I had an interview with a couple about postpartum support (and got hired!) and then did another interview with another local mom. Last night I made dinner and we spent the evening together before I went to my overnight gig--where I fell, down a few stairs, holding a baby. She was fine, but startled, and I am bruised and sore now (I fell harder because I was protecting her).
Looking forward to my spring break week. While I'm still doing doula work and my research, I don't have my office job this week!
Joy, I was just reading about doulas for women having abortions at hospitals. I didn't realize doula worked on women's health beyond labor/birth.
Anyway, this weekend was lovely but exhausting. We did a lot of shopping for and work in the garden--everything we'd been putting off all month basically. We were supposed to go to a party on Sunday but E just wore herself out so we skipped it. I made a new corn-blackberry muffin that was fantastic.
Saturday - Gray was up at 5:40 and wouldn't go back to sleep. We'd signed up for a sales consult from Heartland Food when we were at our gym last weekend. They deliver meats/veggies/grocery products to your home in bulk. Well, the guy was at our house for 2.5 hours. The kids were going crazy, I was pissed that we weren't outside enjoying the weather, L was trying to get to her haircut appt. We ended up signing on the dotted line. L went to get to get her hair cut but Carter wouldn't nap. As soon as she got home I sent him outside with her while she cleaned the garage and I took a nap. We went to Benihana for dinner and had a great time!
Sunday - I was slow to get up since I had a headache. Went to breakfast and then to the outlets to get the kids some short sleeved shirts. Played outside/playground. While the kids napped, L put together a table/chair set we've had in our garage for 2 years and I listed some things on Craigslist. We went to Lowes and came home for more garage cleaning/outside playing. We spent all day going back and forth about our decision for the food delivery and decided to cancel. I overnighted a letter to release us from the contract this morning.
I'm super late to this, but our weekend was really, really good. The great weather was just what we needed.
Friday: We went out to dinner to celebrate our bfp, and then came home a promptly fell asleep on the couch at 9:30. lol.
Saturday: We spent the vast majority of the day outside. We took down some overgrown bushes and installed garden edging. I love how neat it looks. We also made a few trips back and forth to Home Depot and managed to clean the house too. That evening, I went to the mall to pick up a few things for the baby shower I was cohosting the next day and brought home the most delicious Peruvian chicken for dinner. We ended the night by watching the Business of Being Born, which was VERY interesting.
Sunday was the baby shower. Although it wasn't a surprise, my friend was so excited and happy with the way everything turned out. The tea was so much fun and all the food was delicious. She received some really generous gifts and I'm happy she was so touched by the shower! Once I got home, I spent the remainder of the day boning up on social security for a job interview on Monday. The night ended on an unfortunate note when I cut my finger pretty badly on a plate that fell onto the counter, broke, and then bounced up into my hand. It was a rather freakish accident. lol. Figures. We finally got my finger to stop bleeding after about an hour, so no trip to urgent care was needed. It was a craxy end to an otherwise calm and relaxing weekend.
