Coming to visit soon, need recs

My DH and I are going on a trip soon to Chicago and was wondering if you girls had some good recs on things to do and any dining places. I have been to Chicago a few times before but once was for a VB tournament years ago, once for the World Cup (Taste was also going on) and also for a girls trip back in 2002 (again, TOC was also going on). This time I am going with my hubby that has never been and he told me to plan some things to do. I am willing to visit the John Hancock building again, Sears tower, Navy Pier, etc but curious if you have some other fun things to do. We are staying at Hotel Felix (DH got a good deal on Priceline and its still decently close to Michigan Ave).

So any good recs? Oh, and probably won't do a bunch of bar scenes this time since I'm pregnant. I'm sure we will go for a little while but won't make a night of if like we normally would :)

Re: Coming to visit soon, need recs

  • The architecture tour that goes down the Chicago river is really cool.  My husband and I have gone, and it's definitely worth going whether you're a tourist or local.  (Kinda depends on when you're coming though, since it's more of a nice weather kind of thing).  Wendella was the company that did ours but there are others.

As far as dining, it really depends a lot on what types of food you guys like, and your budget.  If you like tapas/small plates Cafe Iberico is good (for Spanish Tapas) and Quartino (small plates/Italian).

    HTH!
