how many pizza's would you order for 20 pp?
I'm having my ds B-day party this weekend and we've decided to go with salad and pizza for lunch. We have 20 adults and 8 kids, well 4 kids that will probably eat a full slice or 2. I was planning on 1 large pizza for every 3 adults. What do you think?
Re: how many pizza's would you order for 20 pp?
Is it thin or thick crust? Cheese or lots of toppings? How big is a large?
I'd really just ask the pizza place how many servings they get out of a pizza. I'd also ask if they have any party pizzas or specials for large orders.
I would estimate 3 adults per pie, as you stated. I hate the 'he can eat a whole pie himself' response...does that mean he will or that he has to. There is something gross and piggish about that.
Are you having anything besides pizza? dips, snacks, etc? If yes, you will be fine and have leftovers. Most adults regulate their own hunger/eating based upon the available supply...they won't gorge on a whole pie if that's all that's left for everyone..kwim?
Do check on the party pizzas though...they can be the big rectangle pies instead of rounds...more slices and usually better prices.
Kudos to you for keeping it simple. Kid parties do not have to be a three ringed circus to be fun celebrations.
I would say 8....
I think 10-12 is too many...while I think it's bad to run out of food...you definitely would have enough with 8 pizzas for everyone to have 2 slices, which is reasonable, then only some people will help themselves to a 3rd slice...once you run out, it's not like any body will say, "I didn't get any" as even the people who will eat 3 slices won't start off with that on their plate.
Even if some guy could eat a whole pizza, a kids party is not the place to do that
I order pizza frequently for large groups, and I think the 3 adults per pizza is a good estimate when doing large pizzas--assuming most will be regular or deep dish. If you're doing all thin crust, I would do a couple extra.
So for your group 7 or 8 pizzas should be good since there's kids.
The standard large pizza gets 8 slices. so 3-4 people per pie is a good rule. As for the "he can eat a whole pie" thing. Well, I can eat 4 slices myself but when I'm at a party I would only ever eat 2 at the most. Most people eat only one or two slices and then after everyone has had their share some people will eat another slice or two if there are leftovers so as not to waste food.
Although pizza reheats well so if you did have alot left over, you could wrap up slices and give them out or keep them for yourself.
