Comcast, Direct TV, or DISH????
With moving into the new house we're tring to save $$$ everywhere we can. So we're examining our cable T.V. We currently have Comcast, who I am very happy with. Direct TV & DISH both worry me because living in IL, having a satellite dish on your roof doesn't make much sense to me! But I heard their service is cheaper. Any comments? experiences?

I always hated Comcast's customer service and RCN's wasn't much better. We're very happy with our Dish. We pay about $45/month and get TLC, HGTV, Discovery, etc. That includes local channels and 2 DVRs.
It was about $55/month when we had the package that included Bravo, but we just cut that part.
Holy cow - so sorry for all the extra posts!

Yeah comcast sucks! I've heard good things about AT&T U-verse, or Verizon's FIOS if they're in your area, otherwise I'd go with Dish. Comast starts you out with $87 for dig cable and internet then after the promotional period is over it jumps to like $125. If it weren't the only thing in our are we'd switch, but we lowered our bill by going to basic instead of digital.
HTH!
I had the Comcast triple-play before I moved in with the hubs, I liked it. I loved having all the on-demand movie channels. Since I am such a home-body, it was nice to have my pick of movies.
We can only have a dish here at the condo, so we have Directv, it's ok. We pay about $85 with 1 DVR and 1 reg box, we have the package where we have Style & Bravo. No movie channels. We order 2-3 pay per view movies a month and usually have a coupon for 1 free movie. It kills me that we pay that much! Our contract is up next week so we are going to ask for some discounts or we may move to the dish. We have only had 2 outages in 2 years and they were really bad rain or wind storms.
If you get it in your area, go with WOW! They offer everything that Comcast does, but SOOOO much cheaper. No contracts, they lock in your rate for 2 years, provide great products and excellent customer service. It is digital cable, has On Demand features, and you don't have to worry about losing signal if it's raining, windy, snowing, etc., like you do with a dish. Believe me, we have tried it all. After two infuriating years with Comcast and two miserable months with DISH network, we are now going on 3 blissful years of great service and savings with WOW!
