Vent: Putting house on the market

Long story short - Greg moved here July 05.  At that time, the market was high, and he bought one of the few homes he could afford.  He took me thruogh the house before he bought it, and I wasn't completely impressed.  His statement at the time was, "Well, you might be living here one day.  Do you like it?"  Fast forward to now, 3 mths after our wedding, and I'm living in the house.  And of course the house has dropped about $50K in value.

After some number crunching and a lot of conversations, we have found a realtor and are starting to clean up so we can post the house soon.  Holy stress!  This is the first time I've gone through this, and this is the first time Greg has gone through this without his company and moving states for work.

We're looking to stay in south Winter Garden because we love the location, but we're just hoping we can get a little more for the house for the work we put into it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can sell and then find something we both love with all things we want.  Wish us luck!

Re: Vent: Putting house on the market

  • good luck!  i hope it works out for you two, that's a tough situation.
  • Good luck! I'm the field and its sooooo slow. Its not a great time to sell...

I send you happy thoughts so that you may sell the home. You get to pick the title company and if you fall within the three years from when you bought it you get a discount on the title insurance premium. Make sure you locate the owner's policy that was given to the Hubby when he bought it. [I work in a title company :-) ]

Let me know if you need any help.

  • All my luck to you.  Just think of it this way.  At least July 05 was still early enough to have a decent amount of equity.  My hubby and I bought the next year right before things started to go downhill.  There's no way we could sell it now and we are currently looking for a renter too!  Ugh...
  • Good luck to you.  We have had our house on the market for almost a year and it has been an emotional roller coaster.  I was so positive in the beginning because I never imagined it would take this long to sell.  Just be ready to drop the price and get offers that fall through because it may happen but hopefully not!

  • Good luck!  I hope you can sell it quick!
