AW: One of the few benefits of CA
What a gorgeous day! This is our front yard today:

Spring has sprung!
Re: AW: One of the few benefits of CA
Yay us!
These spring days do help to make up for not being able to grow the beautiful (water loving) plants that other states enjoy.
*What is the name of that bush with the blue flowers? I see it around a lot.
Ceanothus (common name California Lilac). It comes in a million varieties. I have to keep these trimmed very heavily to keep them from becoming monsters. I believe there are smaller varieties available.
In addition to being pretty, it has the added bonus of being native. It will die if you fertilize it or water it during the summer. How awesome is that?
