laptop suggestions needed

I am ready to trade my old desktop PC in for a laptop but have no idea what kind to get. I only need basic computer programs like Word, as it'll mostly be used to store my iTunes music, my digital pictures, and of course allow me to surf the Internet at a decent speed.

Any suggestions out there?

 TIA!

  • What kind of price range are you looking for?

  • under $1,000 - if that's even feasible for a decent laptop..?!
  • Just quick looking for one, I found a Toshiba (LINK) that could work for you.

At present, I own an Acer Aspire 3680 that's lasted me for three years so far doing just what you want. Acer has a new line called Timeline that could work, too. They're saying it has an 8-hour battery life and the 14" 4810 is $550.

  • Definitely doable. Dell does some good deals. For your usage, check out the Studio 13 or 15. You can play around with configurations to choose the things that you want on the laptop.
  • This Sony from Best Buy is only $650. I actually got a lower end Sony 4 years ago for about the same price and I'm still using it now :) It has held up great and I've had 0 problems. The only thing is that I don't think it comes with Microsoft Office so you would have to buy it.

  • Lenovo!

    HPs are good.

It's the specifications that are the most important: processor, Memory (RAM), HD, graphics card.

  • I have an HP Pavilion dv6 and love it. Best thing I ever bought!
