so our garden has TOOOOONS of ants. They are the little tiny sugar ants and they eat ANYTHING that looks pretty or smells yummy. I hate the thought of using poison (Torro) again. I did it last year, but the bastards are back- so clearly it didn't work. With that being said, just wondering what you all can recommend that might be a little more earth friendly?
Thanks!

I have tried everything to get rid of our fire ants over the last couple of years. As a last resort this weekend I am going to use a poison. It's still a couple of months before anything fruits and I figure even doing that I'm still using way less than anything I'd buy at the grocery store was exposed to.
Unless someone has a magic bullet for fire ants in an area that can't be kept dry because I haven't been able to find one.

Terro is not poison, it's just a mixture of borax and a sweetener. It's pretty earth friendly.
Good luck! WIsh I could get rid of my miner bees.

We never have fire ants as we stick to the schedule: http://www.ktrh.com/pages/gardenline-fireants.html
His complete tip sheet is also pretty useful for Texas: http://www.ktrh.com/pages/gardenline2.html
there is a sugar ant bait there as well.
I definitely listen to him! Too bad his show comes on so freaking early!
Unfortunately none of those are vegetable garden friendly, but that's what I'm now resorting to for the garden.
