Bachellorette Ideas in Worcester?

Hi all--question from an out-of-towner--In May I am throwing a bach party for my BFF who lives in Central MA.  Boston is a bit of a haul, but Worcester is pretty close.  We were thinking dinner, comedy or other show and bar hopping.  Any great ideas?  Must do's? Places to avoid?  There will be about 10 of us.  Thanks so much!

Re: Bachellorette Ideas in Worcester?

  • My bachelorette was in Worcester. We went out to Nashoba (25min away) for a wine tasting, then went to Bocado for dinner, and Irish Times for dancing. Bocado was really great, it's a tapas place so it's good for a large group, and the staff were all really accomodating with helping my bridesmaids order surprises for me- such as a paron, which is kind of a drinking game with champagne. If you're looking to get a little tipsy, I *highly* recommend that. But you'll probably spill on yourself, just so you know.

Irish Times (on Main St) was good for dancing, there was another bachelorette party there, too. They have live bands on the first floor, pool tables (and probably other stuff I didn't notice) on the 2nd floor, and dancing on the 3rd- and bars on all floors. The 4th floor is kind of an invite-only floor, with a small bar (closed when we were there) and nicer bathrooms that they told us to go use, since we were a bachelorette party.?

I'm sure there are comedy clubs around here, but I don't really know of any. Shrewsbury St also has a lot of good bars, that would have been our 2nd choice if we didn't like Irish Times. if you want to go to several bars, go to Shrewsbury St (there are 2 dessert bars there my coworkers recommend, Dulce something and Sweet) and walk around. Shrewsbury St also has a lot of good restaurants, and there is a brew pub place, too (arg I can't remember the name right now). Apparently there is some secret dance club right next to Bocado, but they weren't open when we went by. Bocado is kind of on the other side of the train station from Shrewsbury St, not exactly far, but I don't think I'd walk from one to the other at night.?

    Have fun!!?

  • Bocado is a great restaurant.  For my bachelorette party, we went to a wine tasting at the Wine Vine and then out to dinner at the Boynton (our restaurant).  The Wine Vine was great because it is such a small place, that the woman really specialized the tasting to us.

oh I've never been to the Wine Vine! That's the one right by Sole Proprietor, right? I see it every day as I drive home from work, maybe I should actually go in sometime.?

  • The brew place on Shrewsbury st. is brew city.  They have a lot of great beers.  Funky Murphy's on Shrewbury, or the flying rhino can be fun too.  It depends what you are into.

If you want more music/dancing, def. try Irish Times.

The only comedy club I know of is they do comedy nights fri and sat nights at the crowne plaza.  The time I went it was pretty dead, but the comedians were good.
