Need a new gyn... so annoyed
So today I called for a gyn appt and realized that my wonderful gyn does not take my new insurance (which changed a couple months ago against my will). All I really need at this point is a new BCP prescription, since my gyn does not give them for a full year (grumble) and requires appts every 6 months... is this normal for NYC? Anyway, I need to find someone new...
Any recommendations for a female, gentle, nice, and patient gyn on the UES or Midtown East that takes Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield?

I would be annoyed too. I have had to change my ob/gyn three times due to changing insurance companies. Thank God my PCP accepted all three because I love her.
I tried going back to the older posts because this is a question that comes up quite often but could not find any post related to this. I am of no use since my ob/gyn is in Queens.

Every 6 months?! What? Why?
I just moved here in Aug and I'm not on BC anymore, but I would be so annoyed if I had to go in for an exam twice a year just to get BC. Do they make you get a PAP every time? Everywhere else I've ever lived, it's always been every year, which I thought was bad enough!

My doctor is very nice and knowledgable and also prescribes BC 12 months at a time. Only thing is she's on the west side by columbus circle.

ShelbyAnn, I also moved here in August! I (obviously) had to change gyns at that point and was hoping I would stay with this one my entire stay in NY! Boo hoo. This particular doctor likes to monitor her bcp patients every 6 months to make sure everything is okay and that none of the freaky things we see on TV with regards to bcp happens! My husband actually likes this philosophy and thinks it is safer. As the patient, I just want to go in once a year and get it over with! They don't do a pap every time, but they do go in and do an exam, which, technically is the same amount of discomfort!
I will check out these recommendations. If anyone else has recs on the East side, please post!

I've been going to her for years, she's great, and I get a years prescription of BC at a time.
* I should add, when you look her up online she has a lot of negative reviews...which baffles me. She is fast, no BS, and gets the job done quickly and easily. I have been seeing her for at least 6 years and she is always chatty and friendly with me. She has always answered questions clearly for me. I will say that she only calls about test results if there is a problem, which is fine by me.*
