So planting in pots, Whats the tricks?
Does anyone else have to do this?
I did it last year and failed miserably.
Re: Planting in Pots
Do not buy unglazed terra cotta containers as water evaporates quickly vs glazed terra cotta containers. Plastic is another good option. Buy large size containers for the vegetable you plan on growing like tomatoes, should be planted in containers that are about 20 gallons or more just so the root system has ample room to spread out. Mix some soil with those water crystals that absorb water so your plants never dry out. Water and light is the key to growing healthy vegetables in containers. I've been container gardening for years. Water in the morning instead of when you come home from work.
When preparing your containers for transplants, mix soil with water crystals and some fertilizer and you're all set to go.

I agree, you need bigger pots. They also have these gardening spikes where you fill a two liter bottle with water and it drips water to the plant over a day or two. This could also be helpful.
You have good advice from scatterbrainliz. Glazed pots or plactis and watering in the morning is best. At night (at dusk or just after dark) is second best. Avoid mid-day watering!
I don't use the water crystals, and wouldn't recommend it on anything you're planning on eating (herbs or veggies).
Ok, Thanks guys.
They also have the new pots that water is stored in the bottom of them. Have any of you used those? Do they make any difference?
They had some extremely cute colors.
