Re: petsmart training classes

  • I did the puppy class and got a lot out of it.  I learned a lot about training and the dog also learned lots of tricks and obedience.

The only thing is, you have to go for an hour each week and I hated that I picked a Saturday class.  I would do a class during the week if I did it again.  Also, you have to work with your dog a lot everyday.  At least 15 minutes per day. If you don't they won't get any better or remember the commands.

I haven't worked with my dog for a long time and now she won't do most of the tricks unless I have a treat in my hand.

Overall, I definitely think it's worth it though!

  • My boss does this (hardcore) with her shitzu. They have been going every week for like a year. He has learned SOO much.

  • I think any class would be good for the basics. I'm not sure where you live, but the Humane Society of Broward County offers classes. They have a puppy one for $40 for a 4 week course. They offer several types of classes (from basic to intermediate).

I took my dog to basic obedience classes as a puppy that was offered at our local SPCA and it helped a lot, and of course, it helps out a good cause!

    HTH!
