I need orchid help.

What am I supposed to do with all those veiny roots hanging way out of the pot? They are very long and already look like they're breaking. Do I need to re-pot it so they're under the bark? I just received it today as a gift, so I wasn't able to ask the floral/plant person at the store.

Any great websites on orchid care? I so don't want to kill this one like I did my last one.

Re: I need orchid help.

  • Repot.  You need to repot orchids every two years on average.

It sounds like you may not have a very healthy plant though it may need some extra care to survive.  Google is your friend on that one.

  • Just repot it if it's not in bloom. And whatever you do, don't cut those roots off unless they're brown and squishy. That's where it stores its water.
