Re: Henna Hair Dye
daisygirl has! I haven't seen it in person yet, but the pictures she's posted look fabulous! I'm totally going to get her to do my hair someday. : )
Here's a link to her blog. And I bet she'll pop in at some point in time when she sees this.
Hey!!! So I'm super super late to the game...but I just saw this post. I've been dying my hair with henna for about 2 months now and LOVE it. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair its crazy. And the thing is, everyone thinks it's natural! I loved it so much, I wrote two posts about it:
HERE and
HERE
Real quick though...a few important things to know about henna:
1. It's permanent. Very permanent. I've dyed my hair red before and it always fades sooo fast (like we're talking 1-2 weeks), the henna doesn't fade in my hair.
2. Make sure to get real henna powder...if you get a box mix (like those sold at new seasons), they usually have added chemicals, and if you use it over previously dyed hair it can turn green. I'd order from hennaforhair.com or mehndiskinart.com
3. If you use a curling iron or hair straightener, you may not want to use henna. The high heat from the irons will change your gorgeous color to a dark brown. I never use either so this wasn't an issue for me. Blow dryers are not a problem.
4. You can safely dye hennaed hair with chemical dye at a later date no problem HOWEVER if you choose to add indigo to your mix (you can get various shades of brown or black this way), if you decide to bleach at a later date, your hair can turn green.
Phew! Okay I think that's it. One thing I love love love about henna is that it conditions my hair like crazy. I've done it twice now and both times I couldn't believe how wonderful my hair felt! Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions, or check out the forums at hennaforhair.com
