Keeping Rabbits Out Of Garden
I scrolled through the first couple of pages of posts to see if this had been asked recently (since I assume most people have a similar problem) but didn't see anything. So, I apologize if this question is redundant
I'm trying to grow my first vegetable garden this year. We have tons of rabbits in our yard and want to make sure they don't eat all of our veggies. I don't want to use chemicals and I would prefer to not put up a fence/chicken wire (or raise the bed 18 inches) if I don't have to. So, what other methods are effective for keeping the rabbits out? I've read cayenne/black pepper - does that work?

Re: Keeping Rabbits Out Of Garden
Sorry, i'm no help... I used this type of fence around my garden: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xit/R-202024095/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
It's only 28 inches tall, so it's not obnoxiously high.
Butting in here. Does this need stakes to go in the ground?
Yes, it does. We used these: http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Materials-Fencing-Steel/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xitZblrq/R-202024126/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
They were pounded into the ground every 3 feet or so to the same height as the fence. Zip ties work well to secure the fence to the post. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xit/R-100046280/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
Let me know if you have anymore questions!
I second this! I have 3 raised beds that I planted marigolds around out of habit (it's what my step-mom always did when I was a kid) and not one veggie was touched by the giant mutant rabbits that hang out in my yard lol.
My hostas and azaleas... well, that's a whole different story. I'm planting marigolds EVERYWHERE this year.
Planned Executed
Haha! If you find out, let me know. My two babies fully intend to eat all of our veggies and not share. I usually say "No!" and squirt them with a squirt bottle of water when they get too close.
GL and thank you for trying to find a kind way to keep the bunnies out of your garden.
