Dog parks?

Does anyone take their furbabies to any of the dog parks in the area? We take Chewbacca to the park in the Grove every now and then, but I wanted to see if there were any other parks close by and whether anyone has any feedback? I know Tropical Park has a little corral for the dogs but I haven't heard from anyone who has taken their dog there.

Specifically, I think I've heard mention about a park where they have separate gated areas for little dogs and big dogs. The one we usually go to doesn't have them separated and it makes me nervous, since our little baby only weighs 8 lbs.

Re: Dog parks?

  • I have only been to the one in Aventura.  It's called Waterways and it's super cute!  She wasn't that interested in the dogs though hehe.

I know what you mean about the big dogs.  I was nervous about them too.  She actually didn't play with them all though, they seemed to stick to themselves.

  • Eli there is a great dog park in kendall on 157 and 80 street. I take my pug there all the time. They have a big enclosed area and it is usually really active around the early evening. The park also has grills. I once had a doggie get together... we grilled up hot dogs and hamburgers and all my friends brought their pooches! Big Smile
  • We take ours to the park on South Dixie- it's called Perrine Wayside park, I think, right around SW 160th and Dixie Hwy. They have a separate section for dogs under 20 lbs and a bigger park with a lake, trees, hills, etc, for bigger dogs. Much better than the coconut grove one, IMO.
  • I just took Lily to the one at Tropical park this past weekend and loved it. Although there was another dog trying to hump her and she just wasnt having it, and neither was I lol...but other than that she had a great time. I prefer the parks that have the seperate area for the bigger dogs.
