What to do with heirlooms etc..

So I just got a big bunch of stuff from my mom's house.. Some of it was from my grandmother who died recently.. a few pieces of china and cut glass.. I found a place to display that stuff.. although who knows if I'll ever use it.

Then my mother sent me home with HER mother's wedding gown..which I LOVE.. but its 70 something years old.. and kind of worn down.. I also have my GREAT grandmothers wedding NIGHTGOWN and PANTIES. LOL.. I feel kind of bad just sticking it in the attic.. but what else to do with it? I can't get rid of it, obviously.

Re: What to do with heirlooms etc..

  • Maybe get a cedar chest to store the heirlooms? You can add special things as the years go by. Might be kinda cool to have it all safe in one place, ready to look at when you want to.
  • You could ask a local historical society/museum if they would like any of the items to display, too.  One in Rochester did a wedding gown display a few years ago where they asked for loans of old gowns for display.  That way you wouldn't have to store the items (at least, not right away) and lots of people could enjoy them!
