So after our awning collapse, we decided that NOW is the time to replace the roof (since it was partially damaged too when the awning tore free), it is 15+ old and falling apart/springing leaks that we have been holding at bay with caulk. We priced a few contractors and it would have been in excess of 8K, so my home improvement saavy DH (with much trepidation) has decided to DIY. He's currently at Lowes dropping around 3K on supplies and materials, and he plans on starting the middle of April. I sure hope that he doesn't tear the roof off and find something horrible like termite damage cause we are screwed if that happens. Also here's to good weather and no injuries when the work begins.
Re: major purchase
This! Lots of luck!
I couldn't even imagine...
Lots of luck to this huge purchase!!!
Ugh, we will be in the same place soon. With all the rain we had some water started pooling on the roof of our kitchen and leaked through. That roof is like 30 years old and really needs to be replaced. We hope to be out of the house before we have to do it, but I dont think that will happen.
Good luck to you guys!
Holy cow . . . thats a crazy huge project!
Makes me happy we have a condo so the association is responsible for the roof . . . good luck!
