Essential Oil Questions

I've been reading a lot on this board about making my own laundry and dishwasher detergent, and I want to give it a try. This may be a silly question, but where do I buy essential oils? Should I order them online or do you buy them locally? It seems that tea tree oil is a popular one. Are there any others that you would recommend I buy?

Lavendar is another popular one.  You can find them at natural markets or places who provide alternative medicine supplies.  If you buy them online, in particular, be sure to check the ingredients to make sure you are getting EO, not EO+whoknowswhat.

And also know that there are differences between Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils.  Generally, FO are synthetic and are not what you want for the antibacterial type of properties.  You'll want to stick to EOs for that.

Stores like Whole Foods will have them for you.  I personally hate Tea Tree Oil.  It's good for helping with blemishes, but the smell makes me gag.

I like Jasmine and Lavender.  Just go to a store that carries them and sniff then pick the one you like best.  And with EOs remember a little goes a long way!

We don't have a Whole Foods. :-( Does anyone know of any other chain stores that sell them?

Thanks. It doesn't have to be a local place. I just know Whole Foods isn't an option for me. I'll check out the website and the local place.

I buy mine at the Vitamin Shoppe (not sure if you have them in your area).  I was surprised to find out that some Walgreens also have a section with essential oils so you might want to try that.
