Riverwalk - where to take guests?

Next week I'll have my work team (1 from ATL, 2 fr Cali, 1 fr Ohio) in town.  There's 2 more besides myself here in our SA office.
I'd like to take them out to dinner probably on a Tues evening downtown since our office is just a couple blocks from downtown.  I'm trying to think of something that really captures San Antonio, so Tex-Mex I suppose.
Can you gals help me decide?  These are what I've come up with and the reasons:

- Acenar: more modern SA
- Mi Tierra: the kooky Christmas decor thing
- La Fonda on Main: one of my personal favs and a little aways from downtown.
- Rosarios: just because it Rosarios :)

Any others I should consider or your thoughts on the 3 above?  Thanks!

Re: Riverwalk - where to take guests?

  • I asked DH what he could think of (without telling him what you said) and the first thing out of his mouth was Rosario's. Then, he said Piedras Negras and Tomatillo's. He said no to Mi Tierra because it's not THAT good. He'd take someone for the ambiance, not the food. I agree with him. La Fonda or Rosario's for sure!

  • I would go with Rosarios. My second choice would be Mi Tierra. I have only been there once and it was good.
  • What kind of price range is Rosario's? My mom and dad are actually coming out to visit tomorrow and they are flying into SA and spending a little bit of time there, and I'm assuming will have dinner at the Riverwalk. Sounds like Rosario's is a good place to suggest?

  • I'll add one more to the mix- Azuca.

I would choose Rosarios or Azuca.  Azuca is more upscale but is a favorite of mine. If you want to eat on the RW, then Acenar.

  • I just ate at Acenar over the weekend with a group of out of towners and they LOVED Acenar!  We made reservations and requested the patio/riverwalk seating.  They raved about the food and the guacamole was great!
