How did it go telling your parents this weekend? I bet they're super excited!
Re: **Veruca**
Yay, glad it went well!
My mom is already talking about pulling my old crib out of the attic for when she gets to keep the baby overnight. If I mention that the crib is about 30 years old at this point she starts yelling "You didn't die in it, the baby will be fine!".
That would be a nice deal to have your mom watch the baby for you!
(HA! I kept our engagement a secret for about 4-5 days...)
Very awesome the 'telling' went well! Nice when the moms-soon to be grandmoms-are excited!!!
LOL about the crib.
I'm hopeful that my Mom will be able to help out. That would be so awesome! My work schedule is very flexible, so it'd be great if she could help out too....then maybe we can avoid the cost of daycare. We'll see how things work out!
Ugh. I hate it when I hear grandparents say stuff like this . . . It's been a few decades, do you think we've made some progress in that time? We've invented cell phones, the internet, super colliders . . . we may have made a few advancements in baby care too.
Although it did make for a very funny episode of King of the Hill once.
Oh and Veruca - I'm glad telling your parents went well! I know I would have been super nervous. Tell your mom that women have been having babies for a few thousand years or so and you think you can handle the laundry.
Any symptoms so far?
Thanks! I know, that's what I tell her, but she doesn't listen LOL!
Umm, I don't have much of an appetite, which is weird to me. I haven't had any nausea per se, but more just sometimes I'll eat something and feel right afterwards that it didn't sit well. I have to eat small meals or else I get lightheaded if it's been too long since I last ate. My boobs hurt a bit, and today I feel a little discomfort, almost like really minor cramps (I'm trying to tell myself that's an ok thing to feel). Other than that I get a little bloated, usually by the end of the day. I really don't have any major symptoms right now....I'm waiting to see if anything starts cropping up in the next few weeks!
Lori- I'm still going to work out, but not push myself too much. I won't be running at all. My plan is to focus on walking, elliptical, and low-impact stretches/weights (like yoga, pilates, and very light strength exercises). I want to be as healthy as I can be, so I'm hoping to stick with exercise as much as I can.
I've seen some girls on other boards who have run while pregnant, and great to them! But, running wasn't something I felt 100% comfortable with pre-pregnancy, so I don't think it's a good idea to keep it up now.
I had minor cramping definitely through the 4th and 5th week. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets really bad. I'm neurotic and kept Googling symptoms of ectopic pregnancy though, so take my "don't worry" advice with a grain of salt.
My mom keeps reminding me "Pregnancy is a normal condition. It's not a pathology."
She's a nurse and worked full time in the cardiac intensive care unit until the day before I was born. Everyone at work keeps telling me not to lift, etc. But I checked with my doctor on my first pregnancy and he told me I could lift anything I wanted as long as I was comfortable with it. And the other thing people ask me is how long I am going to work- my answer "Until the baby comes or the doctor says I can't!" I will actually stop working prob. the week before baby is due to give me a few days to rest up.
And you should keep working out- esp. since you were before pregnancy.
Cramping is normal at this point, but if you are worried... Call the doctor and ask to be seen ASAP.
