Roosevelt Park, Edison question
We went there to look at it to see if we could have Max's bday party there...and it was a really nice park! I know I have to call to get a permit to reserve a picnic grove, but does anyone know if there is a covered gazebo that you can also "reserve?"
I really want to plan something outdoors if I can since his bday is in early June. I don't want to squeeze 20 people into my townhouse. Thanks, sorry for all the questions on parks lately lol.
Re: Roosevelt Park, Edison question
Did you see my other response on this? I don't know about gazebos, but a friend recently rented one of the log cabins there. She said it had a full kitchen so you could easily bring in food and cook it there.
A side note... another friend (someone in my mom's group) makes awesome cakes. I'm going to totally toot her horn for her. If you're interested, check her out at busybeecreationscakes.com. They are sooo yummy!!
It truly is the most magical place on earth! Disney 2011
Thanks Rebecca, yes I did see your post, but I was hoping someone would know more about it before I call over there just so I dont sound like a loony bin or something, lol. I'd love to do a cake but I am going with simple Costco cupcakes for this, since we are having his family birthday party on his actual birthday, which is the next day (June 13). So he's getting two parties in one weekend, and I am not going all out this year. I am in the minority I think because I treat birthday parties differently (I do them as they were done for me when I was a kid, casual and nonfancy!). But thank you, if I ever need a good looking cake, I will check her out!!!!
I called four years ago to ask about reserving space for a party. I don't know if the person I spoke to was on drugs or if this is still the case, but they told me I couldn't reserve the exact spot -- someone would have to be there as early as 10 am, I think, and stay there all day to effectively squat it.
We did rent the log cabin for Astrid's first birthday party though, and that worked out remarkably well for us.
Check out Alvin P. Williams park in Sewaren (Woodbridge Twp) or Warren Park in Woodbridge proper. They both have gazebos.
Alvin P. Williams park is where my SIL has our niece's b-day party every year (3 yrs so far). Unless you want a liquor permit, it's definitely in your budget. hth
You might also consider Merrill Park in Woodbridge. They have a little enclosed farm animals thing there, too. (I called it a "thing" because it's not really a petting zoo.)

It's $150 to rent the club house but I don't want to do it indoors, which is why I am having suhc a problem finding budget friendly outdoors places. I'm either doing the park or just forgoing it altogether.
