Best Portland happy hours
New to the board (just married on 8/9/08) and I wanted to know your opinions about the best Portland happy hours. We're new to the Portland dining scene (I grew up here but have been away at graduate school the past three years).
Any suggestions? What are the best items on each happy hour menu? Thanks!
Re: Best Portland happy hours
Stanfords, Newport Seafood Grill, Manzana(Lake O), Henrys Tavern on 12th and Burnside, The Ram (Lake O), Hall Street Grill in Beaverton... Rock Bottom downtown on 2nd and Alder...
There's a little wine bar down on the river by the waterfront, it's on the same cement strip as the McCormicks Pilsner Room, that wine bar has great during the week specials on cheeses and wine tours, $15 for 3 glasses of wine and 3 cheeses. Delicious!
Portland City Grill is fantastic(and the view is amazing) but get there early and expect it to take an hour to find a table. It's a meat market atmosphere, your DH might get mad if you get hit on a lot.
Have fun, I'm jealous!
We've also had a good time at 23 Hoyt (NW 23rd and Hoyt), Ringside (W Burnside near 21st), and Dragonfish (downtown in the paramount hotel).
As for the best items, I tend to just get a selection of items to share with people and they all tend to be good. I do love the HH burger at Henry's though!
Thanks for all the suggestions! We tried Portland City Grill last night (hubby was very impressed with the view) and we loved it! Next time we go I'm trying the California Roll, but my burger was great. Jen, good suggestion about getting their early. We rolled up about 4:30 and barely made it to a good spot (on a Monday night no less).
Next week we'll try 23Hoyt. Looking forward to it! I'm so happy to living in Portland again. :-)
Oh, I'm glad you had fun!! Yeah, it fills up early with the after work crowd. The crazy thing is they open on Sunday at 4:00, there is literally a line at the elevator at 3:30, you have to be there rigth at 4:00 to even get a table. It's insane! People love cheap food and good views, apparently!
I haven't been to 23 Hoyt, because I have heard mixed reviews... let us know how it is!!
